Is it just me? Doesn’t that quote by Rita Mae Brown make it seem as if she’s saying that she became a Lesbian by choice? With the LGBT community always trying to make the point that being gay is not a choice, especially in view of the young people who have committed suicide as a result of bullying, It is interesting that her words would’ve been chosen as ‘quote of the day.’

I think this may be a matter of interpretation although, I think she may have been justifying her own lesbianism. I took the quote to mean that she knew she was a lesbian because she found women “beautiful, strong, and compassionate”.
